History of the QR Code

The QR Code (Quick Response Code) was created in 1994 by the Japanese company Denso Wave, a subsidiary of Toyota. Originally, it was developed to track vehicles and parts during the manufacturing process, as it offered high-speed reading and could store much more data than traditional barcodes.

Unlike barcodes which are read linearly, the QR Code is two-dimensional (2D), allowing information to be encoded both vertically and horizontally. Today, QR Codes are ubiquitous, used for digital payments, marketing, authentication, digital menus, and instant information sharing.
